VILLAGE COVERED – Chakhang-I, Chakhang-II and Chakhang- III (Chakheitla)
Objective:
- Improve productive potential of Rain-fed/Degraded land and development of springs and ground-water through integrated watershed management.
- Enhancing economic growth of the village community dependent on the watershed/spring shed.
- Ecological restoration and sustainable management of natural resources across the project area.
- Improving the economic and social conditions of the resource poor, asset-less, differently-abled and women.
COMPONENTS
1. NRM (47%) of the total Fund:
2. Soil & Moisture Conservation
Agronomic and engineering methods to prevent Soil erosion and improve soil moisture availability.
e.g. WRC, Check-Dam, Terrace, Trenching and Gabion Structure etc.
- Water Harvesting Structure:
Capture, diversion and storage of water obtain from different water sources for irrigation, domestic, ground-water recharge and other uses.
e.g. WHS (Community and Individual), Farm Pond, Water Reservoir, Gravitational water pipe-lines etc.
- Horticulture:
Techniques of production, processing, merchandising of fruit and vegetables etc. (Banana, Ginger and bitter beans had been cultivated in the Project area.
- Livelihood & Micro-enterprise (15%):
To support the landless/ assetless poor, marginalized communities and women, etc, with sustainable livelihoods opportunities for their social-economic development and to improve household income, access to information, knowledge, appropriate technologies and resources leading to their empowerment as a group or individually.
- Production System (15%):
To support and furnish the above component for better production and productivity.
Such as:
- Horticulture: Knapsack Sprayer, Plastic crates, Digital weighing-scale etc.
- Soil & Moisture Conservation: Kisan Agri Pipe (HDPE).
- Water Harvesting Structure: GI Pipe.
- Livelihood & Micro-enterprise: Fish Feed (Pelleted), Fish Seed, Himalyan Rock Salt (Cattle Lick), Poultry Feed, Pig Feed and Cattle Guard, etc.
